Current Question (ID: 14519)

Question:
Which one of the following is wrong with respect to nodal tissue.
Options:
  • 1. auto excitable
  • 2. not localized to a single chamber.
  • 3. equal ability to excite throughout nodal tissue.
  • 4. structural changes are observed throughout nodal musculature in different chambers of the heart.
Solution:
The entire heart is made up of cardiac muscles. A specialized cardiac musculature called the nodal tissue is also distributed in the heart. A patch of this tissue called SA node and another mass of this tissue called AV node is also present. Although all the heart muscle cell have the ability to generates the electrical impulses or action potentials but SA node generates maximum number of action potentials (70-75/min). so there is no equal ability to excite throughout nodal tissue.
